Discover the secrets of one of the oldest cultures on the American continent by visiting the amazing Uros Islands, an incredible handmade floating town on Lake Titicaca.
Tour Details
If you go to Puno, it's probably to visit the famous Lake Titicaca; the world's highest navigable lake. This tour is a way to see the lake and visit its unique floating islands.
We'll start by picking you up from your hotel in Puno and heading to the port. Next, you'll board a boat and sail on the lake for approximately one hour. Did you know that 60% of the lake is in Peru, but 40% is in Bolivia? You'll be able to sit back and admire the views.
Soon we'll reach the floating islands. These islands, constructed by the Uru people from layers of cut totora, a buoyant reed, are maintained by continually adding more reeds to the surface. You'll learn about the construction of these islands and the traditional way of life of the Uru people. After this experience, we'll sail back to the port of Puno and return to your hotel.
Hotel Pickup
The tour includes pickup from hotels located in the center of Puno. If your accommodation is on the outskirts, you should arrive at 6 am at Jiron Arequipa 666, corner of Arequipa and Puno.
Please note that pickup is not available from GHL Lago Titicaca, Casa Andina Premium, Sonesta Posada, Lake Titikaka Hotel-Xima, Pacha Confort, Mirador del Titikaka, Hotel Wisny, Jose Antonio Hotel, Taypikala Hotel, Pumakala Hotel, Atoja Chucuito Hotel, and hotels on the Uros Islands.
