Discover the secrets of one of the oldest cultures on the American continent by visiting the amazing Uros Islands, an incredible handmade floating town on Lake Titicaca.
Tour Details
If you go to Puno, it's probable to visit the famous Lake Titicaca; the world's highest navigable lake. This tour provides an opportunity to see the lake and visit its unique floating islands.
The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Puno, followed by a trip to the port. You will then board a boat and sail on the lake for approximately one hour. It is noted that 60% of the lake is in Peru and 40% in Bolivia, allowing you to enjoy impressive views.
Once at the floating islands, you will observe small, man-made islands constructed by the Uru people from layers of cut totora, a buoyant reed. The Uros harvest these reeds and regularly add them to the islands' surface.
You will learn about how these islands are made and experience the traditional lifestyle of the Uru people. After exploring the unique islands, the boat will return to the port of Puno, followed by drop-off at your hotel.
Hotel Pickup
The tour includes pickup from hotels located in the center of Puno. For accommodations on the outskirts of Puno, you should arrive at 6 am at Jiron Arequipa 666, corner of Arequipa and Puno.
Please note that pickup is not available from the following locations: GHL Lago Titicaca, Casa Andina Premium, Sonesta Posada, Lake Titikaka Hotel-Xima, Pacha Confort, Mirador del Titikaka, Hotel Wisny, Jose Antonio Hotel, Taypikala Hotel, Pumakala Hotel, Atoja Chucuito Hotel, and any hotels located on the Uros Islands.
