San Lucas Island National Park Day Trip

During the booking process, you will have the option to select from two different day trips to San Lucas Island National Park. Both excursions commence promptly from the ICT tourist dock in Puntarenas and include speedboat transfers, a knowledgeable guide, entrance fees, and lunch. Below are the details for both options.

San Lucas Island Tour (6 hours 30 minutes)

Upon arrival at the meeting point, we will conduct a brief safety briefing before departing in a speedboat across the Gulf of Nicoya and through the mangrove forest of Puntarenas. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, as this region is known for its vibrant marine life.

Our adventure will then take us to the waters around the San Lucas Island National Park. After reaching the island, we will embark on a journey exploring its rich nature and historical significance, including visits to its chapel and the renowned old San Lucas Island prison.

Following the exploration, we will return to the speedboat and make our way to Esmerelda Beach. Here, you will have 2 hours 30 minutes of leisure time to unwind and bask in the beauty of this picturesque inlet. A selection of traditional local dishes will be served for lunch during our stay.

Our return trip will conclude at the Puntarenas dock, arriving around 3 pm.

San Lucas, Negritos and Cedros Islands Tour (8 hours 30 minutes)

Choosing this option will see us first glide across the Gulf of Nicoya, taking in the stunning mangroves while searching for dolphins. Next, we will proceed to San Lucas Island for a guided exploration of its scenic trails and historical landmarks, including the chapel and old prison.

After our visit to San Lucas Island, we'll board the speedboat again and set off for an albatross watching tour during the transfer. Our next stop will be the Negritos Island Biological Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to observe various monkey species in their natural environment.

Next, we will head to nearby Cedros Island, where you can relax on the beach for 2 hours and enjoy a delicious lunch. The menu will feature options including chicken, tuna, or whole fried fish (spotted or red snapper), each accompanied by a side dish.

We will then make our way back to the dock in Puntarenas, with an expected arrival time of 4 pm.
