5-day Parinacota and Taapacá Trip

Day 1

On day 1, pickup will be at your hotel in Putre. We'll visit the Taapacá volcano viewpoint (19,225 feet/5,860 meters) and the landscapes of the altiplano near the Chilean border with Bolivia and Peru. The journey will continue to the village of Colpita and the colorful mountains of Suriplaza. You may choose to admire these peaks from the base or via a trekking route up to 17,388 feet (5,300 meters). Overnight in rural lodging in Parinacota.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll trek through the Cotacotani Lagoons and Chungará Lake in Lauca National Park. A visit to the Chiriguaya hot springs will precede heading to a rural house in Chimvatambo for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

We'll visit the vicuña reserve and continue to Chinchillani hill, Salar Salt Flats, and Chilcaya plain. After the Polloquere hot springs, we will explore the villages of Isluga and Cariquima. Dinner and lodging will be in Cariquima.

Day 4

Today, we will explore the Coipasa Salt Flats near the Chile-Bolivia border. Returning to Cariquima, we'll visit its church and the Community Museum. The tour continues to Tarapacá to see the San Lorenzo sanctuary and the Atacama Giant. After lunch in Huara, we will head to a rural lodge in Nama.

Day 5

On our last day, we’ll visit the Red Lagoon and Rainbow waterfall, then return for lunch before heading back to your hotel in Putre.

Accommodation and meals

Accommodation consists of shared rooms in rural houses with included dinner and breakfast. Lunch will be a picnic during midday breaks. The tour includes 4 nights of accommodation at:
