Choquelimpie Mountain Hike

Hike through the beautiful scenery of the Chilean Altiplano on this route to the Choquelimpie Mountain from Putre. You'll climb one of the most spectacular mountains in northern Chile's Andean foothills.

Choquelimpie Mountain Hike

We will pick you up from your hotel in Putre between 7 and 8 am and drive to Choquelimpie. This mountain is located in the Andean foothills in the heart of the Chilean Altiplano.

Upon reaching the base of the mountain, we will begin a high-difficulty hiking route lasting between 7 and 8 hours. The hike concludes at the 17,500-foot (5,353-metre) high summit, where you can enjoy the views.

From the summit of Choquelimpie, views include Chungará Lake and the Parinacota Volcano, which acts as a natural border between Chile and Bolivia. Other visible peaks are the Guane Guane and the Gullatiri Volcano.

A break will be taken to enjoy a picnic lunch with sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates, and natural juices. After lunch, we will begin our descent back to the starting point of the trail.

You will be dropped off at your hotel in Putre between 3 and 6 pm, depending on our hiking pace.
