Experience the stunning landscapes of Suriplaza and its Vibrant Mountains on this hiking adventure. Departing from Putre, you will uncover one of the most breathtaking regions in the Chilean highlands.

Suriplaza Vibrant Mountains Hike

Your journey begins between 7 and 8 am with a pick-up from your accommodation in Putre. We will head towards Caquena, followed by a visit to Cosapilla, which opens the door to one of the most picturesque areas in the Chilean Altiplano. The vibrant mountains of Suriplaza are waiting to be explored!

Upon arrival at the base of these magnificent peaks, we will commence a hiking adventure organized into three segments. Over the next 4 hours, covering a distance of 4 miles (6 kilometers), you'll traverse several medium-difficulty trails while soaking in the reddish, ochre, and brown shades of the Suriplaza Mountains.

In the first segment, we will ascend to an impressive altitude of 16,732 feet (5,100 meters) above sea level. The following stages will lead us higher to 17,060 and 17,388 feet (5,200 and 5,300 meters). As we continue to gain elevation, you'll be treated to spectacular vistas of the unique polylepis and yareta forests, native plant species found in this region.

At the midpoint, we will pause for a delightful picnic lunch featuring sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolate, and beverages. After refueling, we will descend through the Suriplaza Colourful Mountains, giving you a chance to appreciate their remarkable hues up close.

Finally, we will return to the original meeting point and escort you back to Putre. You can expect to be back at your hotel between 4 and 5 pm. Until next time!
