With this hiking route, you'll discover the cave paintings of Willacaurane. You'll also visit the sacred Andean mountain of Petacane Apacheta.

Willacaurane & Petacane Apacheta Hike

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Putre and head towards the Andean foothills of the Chilean altiplano.

We'll make our first stop at 3460 meters above sea level, where we'll undertake the initial stage of a trekking route that will take us approximately 7 hours. This first hike will take place in Willacaurane, an archaeological site with rock paintings dated to be between 4000 and 6000 years old.

After seeing these prehistoric artworks, we'll travel on to Petacane Apacheta. At this Andean hill, which hosts various religious ceremonies, we'll continue the trekking route to enjoy the mountain scenery.

We'll stop to rest and take in the views while enjoying a picnic of sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates, and natural juices. After lunch, we'll continue touring this natural area of northern Chile.

Finally, we'll return to the starting point of the route and then return to your hotel in Putre. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled 6 or 7 hours after pickup.
