With this hiking route, you'll discover the cave paintings of Willacaurane and visit the sacred Andean mountain of Petacane Apacheta.

Willacaurane & Petacane Apacheta Hike

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Putre and head towards the Andean foothills of the Chilean altiplano in the North of the country.

We'll first stop at 3460 meters above sea level, where we'll begin a trekking route lasting approximately 7 hours. This initial hike will take place in Willacaurane, an archaeological site with rock paintings estimated to be between 4000 and 6000 years old.

After viewing these prehistoric artworks, we'll proceed to Petacane Apacheta, a hill that typically hosts various religious ceremonies. We'll continue our trek to enjoy the mountain scenery.

A break will be made for a picnic of sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates, and natural juices. After lunch, we'll continue exploring this natural area of northern Chile.

Finally, we'll return to the starting point of the route and then back to your hotel in Putre. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 6 or 7 hours after pickup.
