Hà Giang 4-Day Tour Overview

Day 1: Departure from Hanoi to Hà Giang

Our tour begins with a bus ride from the heart of Hanoi to the city of Hà Giang. This journey spans approximately 6.5 hours, during which we will stop to stretch, enjoy dinner, or grab a snack before checking into the hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Day 2: Hà Giang - Qu?n B? - Yên Minh - Pho Bang - Mã Pí Lèng

Kick off the second day with a buffet breakfast at the hotel before we commence our tour with an informative session about the area's migration history and opium cultivation. These factors have profoundly influenced the local lifestyle and architecture as we set course toward the Qu?n B? district.

As we transition from the plains into the mountainous terrain, you'll encounter Heaven's Gate, situated at 4921 ft (1500 m), a historic wooden gate from French colonial times that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, including the renowned twin mountains of Qu?n B?.

Next, we will visit a cooperative run by Hmong women dedicated to hemp cultivation and the creation of handcrafted garments. Discover the traditional carvings that tell stories of resilience and cultural heritage, with hemp symbolizing the connection between the living and the deceased.

We’ll then proceed to have lunch at the village of Yên Minh. In the afternoon, we’ll cross the historic Tham Ma Pass, once a site for testing horses' strength, now a picturesque road adorned with scenic cafés. Our exploration continues with a leisurely walk through the towns of Pho Cao and Pho Bang, famous for their unique yin-yang tiled roofs, incorporating elements of feng shui such as poppy motifs and Fu lion statues.

As the day winds down, we’ll settle into a traditional house in Pho Bang for an evening meal featuring local ingredients, setting the stage for a restful night.

Day 3: Discovering ??ng V?n - Mã Pí Lèng - Du Già

The third day starts with breakfast, and if it coincides with a market day in local villages, we may depart earlier to immerse ourselves in this vibrant cultural event, where diverse ethnic groups gather to trade and connect.

We will visit a family-operated silver workshop that has been passed down through generations before heading to the Hmong King Palace, a striking building that reflects the region's 20th-century history, featuring influences from the opium trade, Chinese culture, and feng shui principles. As you explore its halls, you'll gain insights into the powerful families that shaped this area.

Your adventure continues as we embark on the spectacular Mã Pí Lèng Pass, renowned for its breathtaking views. From the summit, marvel at the turquoise waters that snake through the steep cliffs of the Nho Qu? River. After lunch in Mèo V?c, we’ll proceed through stunning landscapes towards the quaint village of Du Già, passing through the Lung Ho Valley and the remnants of an old French military outpost.

Our day culminates in a vibrant valley brimming with rice fields and nature, where we’ll enjoy dinner and rest at an eco-lodge set within lush gardens.

Day 4: Du Già Waterfall - Duong Thuong Valley - River Canyon - Return to Hà Giang

On our final day, we’ll head to the serene Du Già Waterfall after breakfast, an idyllic spot amidst verdant surroundings. Weather permitting, you can take a refreshing swim before we resume our travels.

We will traverse the fertile Duong Thuong Valley, an agricultural hotspot where families cultivate rice, hemp, and vegetables.

Exiting the valley involves climbing the Sa Li Pass as we follow the winding Hà Giang Loop along dramatic river canyons. Upon reaching the city of Hà Giang, we’ll savor lunch before the conclusion of our tour. Depending on your onward travel arrangements, we will assist with your transfer to the bus station.
