The Mauritius Tea Route is a key activity for those interested in the history of the island. Join us on a private tea tour to explore three colonial houses.
Description
We will pick you up from your hotel at the scheduled time to commence the private tour focused on the significance of tea in Mauritius.
Our first stop will be Le Domaine des Aubineaux, a 19th-century colonial house that is now a museum. Here, we will learn about Mauritian tea and explore the surrounding gardens featuring various endemic plant and tree species.
Next, we will travel to Bois Chéri, the most notable location on the tea route. This visit will further enhance your understanding of the colonial history and the importance of tea production on the island. We will observe various stages of the tea production process during our plantation tour.
At Bois Chéri, we will also visit the museum, where you can discover the unique aromas and healing properties of tea while enjoying panoramic views of the plantations.
Our final destination will be Saint Aubin, a former sugar cane plantation. You will have 30 minutes of free time for lunch at a local restaurant.
The tour will conclude with a drop-off at your hotel after approximately 8 hours.
