The Mauritius Tea Route is an essential activity to explore the history of the island nation. Join our private tea tour of Mauritius Island and visit three colonial houses.

Description

We will pick you up from your hotel at the scheduled time to begin our private tour focusing on the significance of tea in Mauritian history.

Our first stop is Le Domaine des Aubineaux, one of the last 19th-century colonial houses accessible to visitors. In this building-turned-museum, we will explore its history and the role of tea in Mauritius, as well as stroll through gardens featuring various endemic species of plants and trees.

Next, we will continue to Bois Chéri, the focal point of the tea route. Here, we will delve into the colonial history of the island and the tea production process, observing its various stages during our plantation tour. Additionally, we will visit the museum at Bois Chéri, where you can learn about the diverse aromas and healing properties of tea while enjoying panoramic views of the plantations.

Our final destination is Saint Aubin, a former sugar cane plantation that highlights another key product of the local economy. You will also have 30 minutes of free time for lunch at a local restaurant.

The excursion concludes with your drop-off at your hotel after approximately 8 hours.
