Day Trip to Glenorchy and Paradise
We will convene at The Station tourist information center at the designated time. Board our vehicle as we depart from Queenstown, embarking on a scenic journey to Glenorchy and Paradise, located just 45 minutes away.
Prior to reaching Glenorchy, we will pause in Arrowtown to savor a delightful local wine.
Nestled along the northern shore of Lake Wakatipu, Glenorchy serves as the gateway to the mythical realm of Tolkien. Prepare to enter the filming locations of both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit!
Throughout the tour, you'll enjoy breathtaking landscapes from the comfort of our minibus, with multiple stops allowing you to capture memorable photographs. Additionally, we will offer a delicious breakfast or snack, depending on the timing, featuring tea, kiwis, cakes, cheese, and chocolates.
We will take in the beauty of the Dart and Rees rivers, marvel at towering mountains, visit Diamond Lake, and explore the Glenorchy Wharf Shed, a charming wooden structure that stands out with its vibrant red color against the lush scenery.
While exploring Glenorchy, we will share insights about the first Maori communities that established themselves in this region, providing a rich cultural context.
Our journey will also take us to Paradise, where you will discover the sites of renowned films. These expansive fields, situated in the heart of rural Otago, were also the filming location for The Chronicles of Narnia.
After around 4 to 4.5 hours of exploration, we will conclude our day trip back at the original departure point in Queenstown.
