And not for nothing - the striking mountains, rolling hills and tranquil lakes of these Pacific islands inevitably come to mind when imagining Gandalf and Shadowfax galloping across mythical lands. After being picked up from your hotel in Queenstown, your adventure will begin, heading in the direction of Glenorchy, the filming location of a number of famous scenes.

Start your exploration of Middle Earth on a 45-minute jeep journey admiring the awe-inspiring landscapes from the scenic road that runs between Queenstown and Glenorchy. You'll have incomparable views of Lake Wakatipu and the north-western slopes of the imposing Mount Earnslaw, where the opening scene of The Two Towers was filmed.

Following in Jackson's footsteps, you'll discover the woodland valleys of Lothlorien, represented by Paradise Forest. Faithful fans of the legendary trilogy will remember the iconic scene of Boromir's death amongst these trees. Paradise Forest was also featured in The Hobbit - can you remember which scene was filmed here?

On the way back to Queenstown we'll make one last stop in Gondor to visit Ithilien Camp. After exploring Middle Earth and experiencing the magic of the iconic saga in real life, you'll return to Queenstown to be dropped off at your hotel.
