Day Trip Details
We will meet at Calle Independencia, number 64C, near the Plaza de Armas to start our day trip. The journey begins by retracing the steps of Ignacio Pérez, the "Messenger of Independence," who warned the Corregidora about the insurgent movement's exposure.
After a 2-hour ride, our first stop will be Dolores Hidalgo, where the Independence Movement commenced on September 16, 1810. We will visit the Parish of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores, the house of Jesuit Miguel Hidalgo, and the main square.
Next, we will head to Atotonilco to see the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, a Baroque church known as "the Sistine Chapel of Mexico." You will learn about the significance of the Virgin of Guadalupe for the insurgents. After this, you will have 1 hour of free time for lunch.
Following lunch, we will visit San Miguel de Allende, honoring Ignacio Allende, a leader of Mexican independence. We will explore the museum home of the Allende family and the Gothic church of San Miguel.
The tour concludes with a return to the meeting point in Querétaro, lasting between 8 to 10 hours.
