Embark on an unforgettable hiking adventure through Ecuador's pristine Cerro Igualata. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking páramo ecosystem, discover unique flora and fauna, and witness the natural wonders in the region of Tungurahua.
Description
Our adventure begins at 8 am at Quero Park, where we'll set off on a hiking expedition through the majestic Cerro Igualata, standing at 4,385 meters (14,385 feet) above sea level. This natural wonder forms the border between the provinces of Tungurahua and Chimborazo.
We will begin our trek from a hacienda on the outskirts of Quero, embarking on a compelling 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) journey through one of the rare páramo ecosystems in the Tungurahua province.
Over five hours, we will navigate this extraordinary landscape, exploring the thriving plant life and abundant wildlife that inhabit this ecosystem, providing insights along the way.
At the midpoint of our excursion, we will take a break for a sandwich. Afterwards, we will commence our return journey through a sprawling pine forest, following the Toro Singuna trail, where we may observe local wildlife.
Upon our return to the hacienda, a traditional lunch will be provided, allowing you to savor local flavors. There will also be time to explore the estate's grounds.
Ultimately, after a total of nine hours, we will conclude our adventure back at the meeting point in Quero.
