Embark on an unforgettable hiking adventure through Ecuador's pristine Cerro Igualata. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking páramo ecosystem, discover unique flora and fauna, and witness the natural wonders in the region of Tungurahua.
Description
Our adventure begins at 8 am at Quero Park, where we'll set off on a hiking expedition through the majestic Cerro Igualata, which stands at 4,385 meters (14,385 feet) above sea level. This natural wonder forms the border between Tungurahua and Chimborazo provinces.
After reaching a hacienda on the outskirts of Quero, we'll commence our trek towards the southern edge of the estate, embarking on a captivating 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) journey through one of the rare páramo ecosystems found in Tungurahua province.
Over five hours, we'll navigate this extraordinary landscape, exploring the thriving plant life and abundant wildlife, sharing insights along the way. At the midpoint, we'll take a break for a sandwich before commencing our return journey through a sprawling pine forest along the Toro Singuna trail, where we may glimpse diverse wildlife.
Upon returning to the hacienda, a traditional lunch will be provided, allowing you to savor local flavors. Additionally, you'll have the freedom to explore the estate's grounds.
After a total of nine hours, we'll conclude the tour back at the meeting point in Quero.
