There is no better way to explore nature in the beautiful region of Tungurahua than hiking through the Quero forest. Are you ready to delve into this unique ecosystem in Ecuador?

Description

We've got several hiking itineraries available in the Quero forest, all starting and ending in Quero Park, including an English-speaking guide, snacks, lunch, and access to Hacienda Hipolongo Cruz de Mayo's facilities. Here are the available hikes:

Quero Forest + Trout Hatchery (8 hours)

Gather at 9 am for a hiking adventure through the pine forests of the Igualata moor. A tractor will take us to the hike's starting point. Enjoy unique plants and wildlife along the way, with a sandwich break to refuel. We’ll follow the old Toro Singuna road to a trout farm, where you will learn about trout care and have the opportunity to fish. After returning to the hacienda, a traditional lunch concludes the adventure, followed by a leisurely stroll around the hacienda.

Quero Forest + Cimarrón Waterfall (8 hours)

Your adventure also includes a visit to the Cimarrón waterfall, gaining insights into the local chagras' lifestyle. Take in views of the Tungurahua, Chimborazo, and Carihuairazo volcanoes. Start hiking to explore the páramo wildlife, including wolves, rabbits, eagles, and water swallows. A snack break at Toro Singuna precedes the return hike to the hacienda, where a traditional-style lunch will be served before heading back to Quero.

2-day tour in the Quero Forest

The 2-day excursion allows for deeper immersion in the Igualata moor. After arriving, drop off your luggage and embark on a scenic hike to Cimarrón waterfall, enjoying a snack break. Lunch is served at 1 pm with local delicacies, followed by free time to relax. The evening includes dinner and a campfire gathering for stories. Day two features a hearty breakfast and an hour and a half of free time at the hacienda, concluding by 10 am at the Quero meeting point.
