  • 8 hours - 2 days

Exploring the enchanting forest of Quero offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect with the pristine nature of Tungurahua. Are you prepared to immerse yourself in this exceptional Ecuadorian ecosystem?

Description

We present several hiking tours designed to showcase the breathtaking Quero forest. Each experience commences and concludes at Quero Park, featuring an English-speaking guide, snacks, lunch, and access to the amenities of Hacienda Hipolongo Cruz de Mayo. You get to select the hike that intrigues you the most:

Quero Forest + Trout Hatchery (8 hours)

The adventure kicks off at 9 am, leading us into the mesmerizing pine woodlands of the Igualata moor.

To begin our journey, we will board a tractor that will transport us to the trailhead. As we travel, take a moment to appreciate the distinctive flora and fauna of the moor; with a bit of luck, we might spot some wild cattle. A short break for a sandwich will provide a boost of energy.

We will follow the former Toro Singuna route to arrive at a captivating trout farm. Here, you will learn about trout farming and might even have the opportunity to engage in fishing.

Upon returning to the hacienda, indulge in a delicious traditional lunch that will perfectly cap off our outdoor adventure. Before departing back to Quero, we will enjoy a leisurely stroll around the hacienda, taking in its serene atmosphere.

Quero Forest + Cimarrón Waterfall (8 hours)

If you've ever fantasized about adopting the life of an Ecuadorian chagra, this excursion sets the stage for that dream as we explore the Cimarrón waterfall while learning about the Chagras' traditions. Don't miss the chance to capture stunning views of the Tungurahua, Chimborazo, and Carihuairazo volcanoes during this cultural journey.

At the entrance to the Quero forest, our hiking adventure begins. You will have the opportunity to witness the diverse páramo wildlife, including wolves, rabbits, eagles, and water swallows. Following our visit to the Cimarrón waterfall, a well-deserved snack break will be taken at Toro Singuna.

As we make our way back to the hacienda, a delightful traditional-style lunch awaits us. After the meal, enjoy some leisure time at the hacienda before we return to Quero.

2-day tour in the Quero Forest

For those seeking deeper engagement, our 2-day journey through the Quero forest presents an ideal option for extensive exploration of the wonders found in the Igualata moor.

Once we arrive, you can drop off your luggage in your room. Our first day includes a scenic hike to the beautiful Cimarrón waterfall, concluding with a peaceful snack break in a picturesque setting.

By 1 pm, we will return to the farm for a sumptuous lunch featuring local specialties. With your hunger satisfied, the afternoon is yours to relax and recharge. As dusk approaches, we will enjoy dinner followed by a welcoming campfire for storytelling and sharing local legends.

On the second day, a hearty breakfast will start your day, followed by an hour and a half of leisure time at the hacienda. We will conclude our experience at the Quero meeting point by 10 am. Until we meet again!
