Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

Discover three beautiful volcanic lakes surrounded by a vast moorland on our Fuya Fuya Hill Hike. We'll set off from Quito and spend the day in a breathtaking natural area.

Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

We will meet at 7:30 am in front of the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito and head to the Mojanda Lagoons. A stop will be made in Cayambe for breakfast before we begin our hike to the top of Fuya Fuya Hill.

The 3-hour route will traverse the area, featuring three stratovolcanic lakes: Karikucha, Yanakucha, and Warmikucha. We may encounter some friendly alpacas along the way.

We'll navigate through several moorlands of meadows and mountain scrubland to reach Fuya Fuya Hill, standing at an elevation of 13,779 feet (4,200 metres). From the summit, we will enjoy panoramic views of the Imbabura, Cayambe, llinizas, Cotopaxi, and Cotacachi Volcanoes.

While taking in the scenery, lunch will consist of a sandwich and a drink before descending back to our vehicle. We will then head to the poncho fair in Otavalo to explore local arts and crafts.

After visiting Otavalo, we will return to the meeting point in Quito, arriving by 5 pm.
