Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

Discover three beautiful volcanic lakes surrounded by a vast moorland on our Fuya Fuya Hill Hike. We'll set off from Quito and spend the day in a breathtaking natural area.

Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

We'll meet at 7:30 am in front of the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito and travel to the Mojanda Lagoons. A breakfast stop will be made in Cayambe before beginning our hike to the top of Fuya Fuya Hill.

This 3-hour route features stunning volcanic scenery, including three stratovolcanic lakes: Karikucha, Yanakucha, and Warmikucha. There may also be sightings of alpacas near the lakes.

The hike crosses moorlands of meadows and mountain scrubland until reaching Fuya Fuya Hill, which stands at an elevation of 13,779 feet (4,200 metres) above sea level. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views of Imbabura, Cayambe, llinizas, Cotopaxi, and Cotacachi Volcanoes.

While taking in the scenery, participants will have a sandwich and a drink before descending back down to board the vehicle and head to the poncho fair in Otavalo for locally crafted arts and crafts.

After visiting Otavalo, we will return to Quito, dropping participants off at 5 pm.
