Can you imagine being in both hemispheres at the same time? On this trip from Quito, you'll be able to put one foot on each side of the equatorial line that marks the Middle of the World.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll head north to Mitad del Mundo, or 'Middle of the World', famous for the monument that marks the exact location of the equator.
In a natural landscape, the Equatorial Monument stands at latitude 0º0'0". Its pyramidal-quadrangular shape has four monoliths at the corners, marking the geographical orientation of the four cardinal points.
We'll visit the Ethnographic Museum and the equinoctial line, the imaginary line dividing the earth's hemispheres. With one foot on each side, you'll be in both northern and southern hemispheres.
You will have free time to try local cuisine, such as yahuarlocro, a potato-based soup, or explore the ancestral dwellings that surround the area.
Afterwards, we'll regroup to begin the return journey, arriving back at the starting point after approximately 4 to 5 hours.
