Can you imagine being in both hemispheres at the same time? On this trip from Quito, you'll be able to put one foot on each side of the equatorial line that marks the Middle of the World.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll head north to Mitad del Mundo, known for the monument that marks the exact location of the equator, from which the country takes its name.
The Equatorial Monument stands at latitude 0º0'0" within a notable natural landscape. Its pyramidal-quadrangular shape has four monoliths located on its corners, marking the geographical orientation of the four cardinal points.
We'll visit the Ethnographic Museum and the equinoctial line, which divides the earth's hemispheres. You’ll be able to stand with one foot on each side of this line, placing you simultaneously in the northern and southern hemispheres.
In this area, you'll have free time to try local cuisine, such as yahuarlocro, a potato-based soup, or explore the ancestral dwellings around it.
Afterwards, we'll reconvene to begin the return journey, arriving back at the starting point after a total duration of 4 to 5 hours.
