Pasochoa Volcano Hike
Having met up at the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito at 7:30 am, we'll head towards the Pasochoa Volcano. Upon arrival at the north face of the mountain, we'll begin our hike.
The hike will take approximately 4 hours to reach the top of this extinct volcano. We will encounter paths lined with alders, pumamaquis, and palms, as well as ferns, bromeliads, orchids, and heliconias.
At the crater, located at an altitude of 13,776 feet (4,199 meters), we will observe how the Andean forest has developed around the former eye of the volcano. From the summit, we can view the Antisana and Cotopaxi Volcanoes.
Keep an eye out for Andean condors flying overhead. During our time at the crater, a picnic consisting of a sandwich and a drink will be provided.
Afterward, we'll return to the base and head back to Quito, with our arrival back at the meeting point scheduled for 5:30 pm.
