Embark on an expedition to a sprawling wildlife sanctuary covering 500 hectares and uncover the rich Ecuadorian flora and fauna during the Pasochoa Volcano Hike. Let’s begin our journey!
Pasochoa Volcano Hike
Our adventure will commence at Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito at 7:30 am, where we will board a minibus bound for the Pasochoa Volcano. Upon reaching the northern slope of the volcano, we will disembark and commence our hike.
The ascent to the summit of this dormant volcano will take approximately 4 hours. Along the route, we'll navigate trails decorated with alders, pumamaquis, and palms. Expect to encounter various species, including ferns, bromeliads, orchids, and heliconias.
Upon arrival at the crater, situated at an altitude of 13,776 feet (4,199 meters), you will witness how the Andean forest thrives in this former volcanic caldera. From this vantage point, enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Antisana and Cotopaxi Volcanoes.
Keep a lookout for majestic Andean condors soaring above. While soaking in this serene atmosphere, we will enjoy a picnic featuring a sandwich and a refreshing drink.
After our break, we will retrace our steps back to the base and make our way back to Quito, with our estimated return to the meeting point set for 5:30 pm.
