Temazcal Experience at Templo Jempe

Description

We'll meet at the entrance of the Centro Comercial Iñaquito shopping centre at the indicated time and board a bus to Templo Jempe, a centre specialising in holistic medicine.

After our meeting, we'll start the Temazcal ceremony, a steam bath practiced since pre-Hispanic times. We will light a bonfire and explain the procedure. Shamans will recite ancestral chants to cleanse negative energies using soplo, medicinal snuff, and plants. The four elements of water, earth, fire, and air will be invoked.

Next, hot volcanic stones will be added to create a steam bath that helps detoxify the body and mind. Relaxing sounds will play as you connect with your inner self. After the Temazcal, you will bathe with moon water.

The experience lasts 4 hours, with various rituals. You will then have time to change clothes at the centre's facilities. The activity concludes with a vegetarian meal and pure cocoa drinks.

We'll then return you to the meeting point in Quito, or you may choose to remain at the Jempe Temple Center.
