Temazcal Experience at Templo Jempe

Description

We'll meet at the entrance of the Centro Comercial Iñaquito shopping centre at the indicated time and board a bus to Templo Jempe, specializing in holistic medicine. The experience begins with a Temazcal ceremony, a traditional steam bath that has been practised since pre-Hispanic times.

We will light a bonfire and explain the procedure, after which the shamans will recite ancestral chants, using soplo, medicinal snuff, and plants to cleanse negative energies. The ceremony will invoke the four elements: water, earth, fire , and air.

Hot volcanic stones will create a steam bath to aid in detoxification of the body and mind. Relaxing sounds will facilitate connection with your inner self, and upon leaving the Temazcal, you will have a bath with moon water.

After 4 hours, you can change clothes in the centre's facilities. The experience concludes with a vegetarian meal and pure cocoa drinks.

We will return to the meeting point in Quito, or you may choose to stay at the Jempe Temple Center.
