Racalmuto Food Tour & Sciascia House Visit

This tour begins at your selected time in Piazza Umberto I. You will explore Racalmuto, following in the footsteps of renowned author Leonardo Sciascia. As you wander the streets, notable sites include the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte, established in 1738, located on a high hill, and the Leonardo Sciascia Museum House, featuring the writer's furniture and belongings.

Sciascia reflected on his deep connection to Racalmuto, where he was born and set his notable work Le parrocchie di Regalpetra. Continuing through the town, you will reach the main street with a bronze statue of Sciascia, created by sculptor Giuseppe Agnello. You will also visit the community of sulphur and salt miners, exploring the mining history, before seeing the historic Regina Margherita theatre, built between 1870 and 1880.

A cooking demonstration will follow in a local restaurant, where you’ll learn to make Sicilian nougat and taste the products. The tour continues at a resort, featuring a tasting of various olive oils, alongside insights into local olive tree characteristics and oil production techniques. The experience concludes with a light meal of cold meats, cheeses, and local specialties, wrapping up your exploration of Racalmuto and Sciascia's legacy.
