Racalmuto Food Tour & Sciascia House Visit

Join our Racalmuto Food Tour & Sciascia House Visit to explore the culinary and historical aspects of Racalmuto. We will meet at Piazza Umberto I at your chosen time to begin the tour, following the path of renowned author Leonardo Sciascia.

During the tour, we will see significant monuments, including the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte, built in 1738. Nearby, we will visit the Leonardo Sciascia Museum House to view his furniture and personal items.

Sciascia spoke of his deep connection with Racalmuto, where he was born and inspired works like Le parrocchie di Regalpetra. We will continue to the main street, where a bronze statue of Sciascia by Giuseppe Agnello is located, and learn about the local mining history at the circle of sulphur and salt miners before visiting the historic Regina Margherita Theatre, built between 1870 and 1880.

A cooking demonstration will follow, showcasing how to make Sicilian nougat, where you'll both learn and sample delicious nougat products. We will then visit a resort for a tasting of various types of olive oil, discussing the local olive trees and production techniques. The tour will conclude with a light meal featuring cold meats, cheeses, and local specialties, finishing our exploration of Racalmuto and Sciascia's heritage.
