Why Visit the LAVA Centre?
By purchasing a ticket to the LAVA Centre, you will visit a museum focused on Iceland's volcanoes and geological activity. Located in Hvolsvöllur, it is recognized as one of the leading exhibition centres in the nation.
Featuring over 8 interactive spaces, the centre offers an educational journey through various types of volcanoes in Iceland. The first room presents an exhibition on 100 years of eruptions with multimedia effects.
The second room features the "time wheel", depicting the country’s seismic history. The third room includes an eruption simulator that illustrates the recent significant earthquake in Iceland.
In the fourth room, you can hear the Eyjafjallajökull eruption sounds. The fifth features a geothermic corridor showcasing geysers. The lava room displays different eruption types and lava flows, providing a photo opportunity. The seventh room covers the latest eruption, Fagradalseldar, in the Reykjanes peninsula.
Finally, the last room simulates the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in 2010 with a cloud of ash. After exploring the 8 rooms, you can access the cinema, observation platform, and gift shop.
