We will meet at Plaza Constitución 1812, a significant stop on the Portuguese Way of St. James. The tour will begin with a walk through the old town, highlighting the medieval architecture and the remnants of the wall around the Church of Santiago.
Next, we will visit the seafaring neighborhood outside the walls, discussing its origins linked to the Jacobean Route. You will learn about local traditions and why the residents are known as choqueiros, as well as stories about Xan Carallás and the nickname Town of the Viaducts.
We will also cover the Battle of Rande and mention notable figures like Captain Nemo, Pedro Madruga, and John O'Dogherty. Historical insights will abound during this part of the tour.
The tour will illustrate how Redondela transformed from a fishing village to an industrial town in the 20th century due to the textile and fishing industries.
Recommendations for local dining will be provided before concluding the journey at Plaza Santiago Apóstol after two hours of exploration.
