On this excursion to Deildartunguhver Spring and Vidgelmir Cave, participants will explore the largest lava grotto in Iceland and the fastest-flowing hot springs in Europe.

Description

The tour begins at a designated meeting point in Reykjavik, leading to Deildartunguhver Spring in the Borgarfjörður region. It includes a scenic road trip of approximately 2 hours to reach Deildartunguhver, noted for having the highest flow rate of any hot spring in Europe. There will be a stop at the lava waterfalls, Hraunfossar and Barnafossar, both rich in folk legends.

After a break in Húsafell for lunch on your own, the tour continues to the Vidgelmir Cave, recognized as one of the largest lava caves worldwide. Participants will navigate its chambers and learn about its geological evolution.

Following the cave exploration, there will be some free time in Húsafell for optional activities, including a potential dip in a geothermal pool. The tour concludes with the return to Reykjavik, approximately 10 hours after departure.
