On this excursion to Deildartunguhver Spring and Vidgelmir Cave, we will explore Iceland's largest lava grotto and Europe's fastest-flowing hot springs.

Description

We will meet at a designated point in Reykjavik and set off for Deildartunguhver Spring. Our route will lead us to the Borgarfjörður region in western Iceland, with a scenic 2-hour drive to the Deildartunguhver Spring, the hot spring with the highest flow rate in Europe. En route, we will stop at the lava waterfalls, Hraunfossar and Barnafossar, each tied to local folk legends.

After the spring visit, we will break in Húsafell for lunch. Then, we will continue to Vidgelmir Cave, one of the largest lava caves globally, where we will navigate its chambers and learn about its geological history.

Following our cave exploration, we will return to Húsafell for some free time to explore or relax in a geothermal pool. We will conclude the day with a return to Reykjavik, wrapping up approximately 10 hours after departure.
