Vibrantly colourful mountains, hot springs and volcanic landscapes: discover the incredible scenery of the Icelandic Highlands on this day trip to Landmannalaugar from Reykjavik.

Day Trip Details

Meet at the meeting point in Reykjavik in the morning, then set off towards the Highlands of Iceland to the Landmannalaugar nature reserve. This area is known as the "pearl of the central Highlands".

Upon entering Landmannalaugar, a light trek begins to explore the landscape. You'll see rivers and lakes, including the stunning Hnausapollur, a volcanic lake over 10,000 years old, known for its exceptionally blue waters. The trek showcases the region's natural colors, featuring turquoise crater lakes, bright greens, and rich reds of the mountains.

Spend time exploring the hills of Landmannalaugar up close. You'll have free time after your trek to rest and eat before heading to the region’s natural pools. Enjoy the chance to relax in the thermal springs amid majestic landscapes.

The return journey to Reykjavik includes passing close by Hekla, one of Iceland's most active volcanoes. You will arrive back at the meeting point in Reykjavik after a total of 13 hours.
