Vibrantly colourful mountains, hot springs and volcanic landscapes: discover the incredible scenery of the Icelandic Highlands on this day trip to Landmannalaugar from Reykjavik.

Day Trip Details

You'll meet at the designated meeting point in Reykjavík in the morning and then proceed towards the Highlands of Iceland, home to the Landmannalaugar nature reserve. This area is known for its volcanic valleys and is referred to as the "pearl of the central Highlands".

Upon entering Landmannalaugar, you'll embark on a light trek to appreciate the landscape, including the Hnausapollur, a volcanic lake over 10,000 years old. The trek allows you to experience the vivid natural colours, from turquoise crater lakes to bright greens and rich reds of the mountains.

After the trek, you will have free time to rest and dine before heading to the region's natural pools. Take advantage of the opportunity to relax in the thermal springs while enjoying the scenic surroundings.

On the return journey, you'll pass by Hekla, one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, known historically as the "Gateway to Hell". The entire trip concludes with a return to the meeting point in Reykjavík after 13 hours.
