Puffin watching is a must-do activity on your trip to Reykjavik. Cruise around the Icelandic islands, admiring their rugged beauty and discovering the large populations of puffins that live there.

Puffin Watching in Reykjavik

The best time of year to see puffins in Reykjavik is between May and August, when these birds return to Iceland after a long winter at sea. After boarding our boat, we'll set sail to find islands with the largest populations of puffins, recognizable by their brightly colored beaks. There will be opportunities for photos and binocular viewing.

An English speaking guide will share facts about puffins, such as their monogamous behavior and that they lay one egg a year. Additional birds like the common eider, arctic tern, and cormorants may also be observed. The tour lasts an hour, concluding with a return to the departure port.

What island will we visit?

The captain will decide which Reykjavik island to visit based on tides and weather. Possible destinations include Engey, Akurey, or Lundey. We aim to approach their coasts without disembarking to avoid disturbing the birds.
