Embark on a remarkable adventure along the coast of Iceland, where you will have the chance to see the incredible whales of the North Atlantic in their natural surroundings. This experience promises a fascinating insight into these magnificent creatures.

Activity Overview

Your journey begins with a pick-up from the nearest point to your Reykjavík hotel, leading us to the harbor for an exciting boat excursion across Faxaflói Bay. As we start our voyage into the Atlantic Ocean, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Reykjavík from the water.

While on the water, we will be on the lookout for the impressive humpback whales. The Icelandic coast serves as a popular location for these magnificent animals, and with some fortune, we may also encounter dolphins or even orcas. Don’t forget to watch for seabirds, as they are another remarkable aspect of the area!

As we continue, we will have the opportunity to observe humpback whales in their natural environment. These marine mammals, along with other cetaceans, regularly appear along the shores of Iceland. Depending on seasonal conditions, we may also spot dolphins and orcas during our trip.

Throughout the cruise, you’ll gain insights into the traits of these protected species and the significance of preserving biodiversity in Atlantic ecosystems. After enjoying views of the whales and some coastal birds, we will start our journey back to Reykjavik.

The excursion will conclude at the original meeting point after approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours of engaging activity.

Whale Watching Insights

Faxaflói Bay is an excellent location for whale watching. Be aware, however, that observing whales can be unpredictable, with sightings depending on various factors such as ocean currents, wind conditions, and overall weather. The quick changes in the Arctic climate can significantly affect the behavior of these marine creatures.

Please keep in mind that the length of the tour may fluctuate due to weather and the time required to find the whales. Regardless, all efforts are made to ensure the experience occurs with deep respect for the animals and their natural habitat.
