The Snæfellsjökull National Park is known for its landscapes. Explore black sand beaches, villages, Kirkjufell mountain, and more on this day trip from Reykjavik.
Description
At 9 am, pickup is from your selected meeting point in Reykjavik. The journey across the Snaefellsnes peninsula leads to the Snæfellsjökull glacier on an active stratovolcano, visible from Reykjavik.
Admire landscapes featured in Jules Verne's "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", including waterfalls, lakes, rivers, basalt cliffs, fishing villages, and black sand beaches.
The route continues to Ytri Tunga Beach and Lýsuhóll, where we can see a seal colony (most visible in summer). A home-cooked lunch is included at Lýsuhóll Farm, followed by a visit to the stables with Icelandic horses.
In the afternoon, visit the black church of Buðir and drive the coastline to Arnarstapi, Hellnar, and Djúpalónssandur, where a shipwreck occurred in 1948.
Continue to Saxhóll crater and Kirkjufell, stated to be the most photographed mountain in Iceland and a filming location in "Game of Thrones." Nearby are the villages Grunðarfjorður and Ólafsvík, known for killer whales and seals.
The final stop is at Leynifoss (Sheep Waterfall) with views of Selvallavatn Lake and a lava field. The return to Reykjavik is around 8 pm.
