Why Visit the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes?
The Grand Master's Palace is a historical testimony to the medieval period and the influence of the Knights of St. John on Rhodes. This architectural structure was built at the end of the 7th century and became a grand palace in the early 14th century, serving as the residence of the Grand Master until the Ottoman arrival in 1522. The palace was designed as a fortress inside a castle, providing defence at the highest point of the city.
This ticket allows you to explore its halls decorated with mosaics, frescoes, and period furniture. Notable areas include the reception rooms, knights' quarters, and a large courtyard, all restored in the 1930s. The palace functions as a museum, showcasing collections of artefacts, weapons, and works of art.
