Hiking Tour of Alvão Natural Park
We will set off from Pena Aventura Park at the scheduled time to embark on our journey into Alvão Natural Park.
The Alvão Natural Park, recognized as one of the primary protected regions in northern Portugal, is celebrated for its diverse ecosystems. Within its borders, you can discover a variety of endemic species, including wildcats, peregrine falcons, and Iberian wolves, the latter being categorized as an endangered species.
Throughout our hike, we will trace the paths of the Iberian wolf, seeking signs of its presence in the area, such as tracks or scat. Our route will guide us through fields adorned with heather and broom, where we can take in the natural beauty of the Alvão plain.
The adventure will also lead us through the region's characteristic landscapes, traversing birch and wild pine forests and observing birds of prey, along with ponds rich in amphibians and insects. A short break will be included for a quick refreshment with an energy bar when needed.
Completing our five-hour trek through Alvão Natural Park, we will return to our starting location, concluding the tour.
