Alvão Natural Park Hiking Tour
On this hiking tour of the Alvão Natural Park, we will depart from Pena Aventura Park to explore on foot. The park is a major protected area in northern Portugal, recognized for its biodiversity, including endemic species like wild cats, peregrine falcons, and Iberian wolves, the latter being endangered.
During the hike, we will follow the tracks of the Iberian wolf, looking for signs of its presence such as footprints and droppings. The tour will lead us through fields of heather and broom, showcasing the natural beauty of the Alvão plain.
We will traverse typical landscapes, including birch and wild pine forests, observe birds of prey, and visit ponds teeming with amphibians and insects. A short break will be provided for an energy bar whenever needed.
After five hours of hiking through Alvão Natural Park, we will return to the starting point, concluding the tour.
