Explore the somber past of Riga, the Latvian capital, on our Soviet walking tour. Uncover the realities of life in this city during the turbulent era of the Second World War.

Description

At the designated time, we'll meet up and set off on our Soviet tour of Riga. We will walk through the city's streets to uncover its darkest historical moments.

As we stroll, we'll admire the iconic Academy of Sciences, referred to as Stalin's birthday cake during the Soviet era, and explore the story behind its nickname.

Inside the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, we will examine the conflict between Germans and Russians that transformed Riga into a battleground during World War II and learn details of this period.

A tribute will be paid to the Latvian Fusiliers at the monument in Laukums Square, recognizing their role in the First World War and discussing the controversies surrounding the sculpture.

Throughout the tour, we will pass by landmarks such as the Monument to the Deportation, the Cathedral of the Nativity of Riga, the Parliament building, and the Memorial of the Barricades.

After 2 hours, the tour will conclude in the city center.
