Explore the somber past of Riga, the Latvian capital, on our Soviet walking tour. Uncover the realities of life in this city during the turbulent era of the Second World War.

Description

At the designated time, we'll meet up and set off on our Soviet tour of Riga. Discover the city's darkest moments in history as we walk through its streets.

As we stroll along, we'll admire the iconic Academy of Sciences, referred to as Stalin's birthday cake during the Soviet era, and learn about its nickname.

Inside the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, we'll delve into the conflict between Germans and Russians that turned Riga into a battleground during World War II, uncovering details of this period.

We'll also visit the monument in Laukums Square to honor the Latvian Fusiliers and discuss the controversies surrounding this sculpture due to its Soviet-era connections.

Throughout the tour, we'll pass by significant landmarks, including the Monument to the Deportation, the Cathedral of the Nativity of Riga, the Parliament building, and the Memorial of the Barricades.

After 2 hours, we'll conclude the tour in the city center.
