Santa Marta Favela Tour, Football Game + Traditional Lunch

Tour Details

We will meet at the Tourist Information Office at Praça Corumbá and proceed to the railway station to travel to the Santa Marta favela. Upon arrival, enjoy panoramic views of Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, and Morro Dois Irmãos, as well as the famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema.

The tour will begin by discussing celebrities like Michael Jackson, who filmed the music video for They Don’t Care About Us in the favela. We will meet locals and learn about their lives, including a resident with a collection of over 300 watches. We will also visit centers promoting sustainable development within the community.

After an approximately 3-hour tour, conclude with your selected option from your booking.

Tour Options

During booking, you can choose one of the following options. After your included experience, we’ll return to the starting point.

Tour + Football Game

This option includes a 30-minute football match against locals at the favela’s pitch.

Tour + Traditional Lunch

After the tour, enjoy a traditional lunch in a family home, including rice, beans, farofa, salad, and a main course option of grilled chicken, breaded chicken, fillet of veal, or omelette.

Tour + Feijoada Lunch & Hike to the Doña Marta Viewpoint

This option features a 7-minute hike to Mirador do Pedrão for views of Maracanã stadium, Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, and Guanabara Bay, followed by a feijoada meal in a local family's house.

Itinerary Adjustments

If it rains on the day of the activity, the football game will be cancelled for safety reasons, and alternative activities will be provided for those who booked that option.
