If you want the most exclusive views of Rio de Janeiro, then join us on a hike up Sugarloaf Mountain.
Sugarloaf Mountain Hike
We'll meet at Praça General Tibúrcio square at the indicated time, in front of the statue of the angel. The hike lasts 1.5 hours along the Costão route to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain. The first part takes us along the Claudio Coutinho trail for approximately thirty minutes. Along the way, we'll see native plant species, and possibly a monkey.
The ascent includes a scramble through rocky terrain, followed by a 50-foot climb with a rope up a steep cliff face. Expert instructors will assist you during the climb. As we ascend, you will enjoy views of Guanabara Bay and Niterói.
Before reaching the summit, we will stop at the Philosopher's Stone, a viewpoint offering beautiful landscapes of southern Rio. We will then continue to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain.
The descent is easier, as we'll take the free cable car to Morro da Urca. From there, it’s a short walk of about 30 minutes down a quiet path to the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain.
After 4 hours, we'll conclude at the departure point.
