Birdwatching in Rio Lagartos
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Río Lagartos boardwalk, where we'll board a boat and navigate through the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. This protected area is known for its ornithological richness and is a significant environmental treasure of the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. During the trip, we'll see the famous flamingos of Rio Lagartos and learn about their unique coloration. Other native birds, such as pelicans, herons, and large American eagles, may also be spotted, as well as crocodiles in the mangroves. The tour concludes at the beach of Río Lagartos, known for its emerald-green waters, after a 1.5-hour trip returning to the departure pier.
Hours
The tour will take place between 7 am and 10 am, the best time for bird visibility in the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. We will provide the exact time of departure in advance.
