Birdwatching in Rio Lagartos
We will meet at the indicated time at the Río Lagartos boardwalk, board a boat, and navigate through the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. This protected area is known for its ornithological richness and is an environmental treasure of the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. During the trip, we will see the famous flamingos of Rio Lagartos and learn about their distinctive pinkish color. Other native birds, such as pelicans, herons, and large American eagles, may also be seen, along with crocodiles in the mangroves. The tour will conclude with a visit to the beach of Río Lagartos to see its emerald-green waters, ending after a 1.5-hour trip back at the departure pier.
Hours
The tour will take place between 7 am and 10 am, the optimal time for bird visibility in the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. The exact time of departure will be provided in advance.
