Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Rio Lagartos boardwalk to embark on a boat ride through the mangroves.

We'll enter the mangroves located in the estuary of the Ria Lagartos, a Biosphere Reserve on the northern coast of Yucatan, housing over 1,450 plant species. During the ride, we'll learn to differentiate the main botanical characteristics of each species.

The Ria Lagartos reserve is noted for its diversity of water birds. Throughout the trip, we'll see various types of cranes, pelicans, and hawks, with a chance of spotting the famous American flamingos if conditions permit.

We'll continue our cruise through the mangroves, gaining insights into this ecosystem, sailing around the coastline of Rio Lagartos beach and enjoying the views.

After a 2.5-hour cruise, we'll conclude our boat ride at the starting point.

Operating hours

The tour operates between 7 am and 10 am, optimal for bird sightings in the Ria Lagartos Biosphere Reserve. We will confirm the exact departure time prior to the activity.
