Discover a unique spot in the Andes on our Atillo Lagoons Day Trip. We will depart from Riobamba and walk through a scenic area filled with lush greenery.

Atillo Lagons Day Trip

After picking you up from your hotel in Riobamba at 8 am, we will head to the Atillo Lagoons, located in the Sangay National Park. On the way, we will pass through rural Indigenous communities before reaching the viewpoint of the lakes, including Cuyo, Colay, and Atillo Lakes. We will then stroll to the Negra Lagoon, an aquifer with black water related to a dark Puruhae legend.

Next, a short walk will allow us to learn about local plant life, including lupinus, chocho de páramo, valeriana, and flor de páramo. We will also observe migratory cuvivis birds.

Those desiring a meal will enjoy a traditional lunch featuring grilled trout with salad, cooked corn, and cheese sauce.

After lunch, we will visit the Chalán ravine to see the footprints of 40,000-year-old Pleistocene mastodons.

We will return to Riobamba, dropping you off at your hotel by 5 pm. See you next time!
