Depart from your hotel in Riobamba at 8 am for the Atillo Lagoons, located in Sangay National Park. The journey includes views of rural Indigenous communities before reaching the lakes' viewpoint. Admire Cuyo, Colay, and Atillo Lakes, then take a walk to Negra Lagoon, known for its black water and Puruhae legend.
Explore the area's plant life, learning about lupinus, chocho de páramo, valeriana, and flor de páramo. Observe migratory cuvivis birds during the excursion.
Lunch will feature traditional grilled trout served with salad, cooked corn, and cheese sauce.
After lunch, visit Chalán ravine to see 40,000-year-old Pleistocene mastodon footprints.
