Chimborazo Volcano Two-Day Trek
Day 1
At 7 am, our journey begins with your pickup from your accommodation in Riobamba. We will head towards Urbina, where a substantial breakfast awaits us before we continue toward the base of the Chimborazo Volcano to commence our hike.
Our trek spans approximately 6 miles (10 kilometers), reaching an elevation of 13,615 feet (4,150 meters) at the Urku Wasi lodge. Upon arrival, we will recharge with a nourishing lunch and then set out to explore the stunning Condor Samana Waterfall, which cascades at a height of 131 feet (40 meters) from a melting volcanic glacier.
After a day of exploration, we will return to the lodge to enjoy dinner while gazing up at the star-filled sky over the Ecuadorian Andes.
Day 2
Rise and shine! With the sunrise illuminating the landscape, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast before gearing up for another day of hiking. We will embark on a 5-hour trek through the Abraspung Valley, providing views of the impressive Carihuirazo and Chimborazo volcanoes. Along the trail, we may encounter alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas that inhabit the region.
Following our hike, we will have lunch and begin our descent back down the volcano, hopping onto our minibus for the return trip. As we head back, we will stop by La Chorrera Canyon to appreciate its towering 656-foot (200-meter) rock formations.
We expect to arrive at your hotel in Riobamba by 5 pm.
