Chimborazo Volcano Bike Tour

Ride through the foothills of a steep mountain the Ecuadorian Andes and zigzag along winding paths on our Chimborazo Volcano Bike Tour. We'll leave Riobamba behind and set off on an incredible adventure.

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Riobamba and take you to the Hermanos Carrel mountain lodge, located at an altitude of 5,900 feet (1,800 metres). You will receive a bag with a sandwich, a piece of fruit, and some juice for consumption at the halfway point.

A short walk to a second refuge will take you to the Condorcocha Lagoon at an elevation of 16,732 feet (5,100 metres). Following this, we will return to the Hermanos Carrel camp to begin a cycling tour of the Chimborazo Volcano.

This 23-mile (38-kilometre) route starts in a dry paramo area, allowing observation of herds of vicuñas, curiquingues, and stellate hummingbirds, along with plants such as ñáchag, romerillo, and ashpachocho and views of the Central Andes.

We will also cross winding rural goat trails, or chaquiñanes, and cycle through a colossal gorge with green meadows to the village of San Juan, where our cycling experience concludes.

The tour will finish as we return to your hotel in Riobamba at 5 pm.
