Quilotoa Lagoon Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Riobamba and set off for the Quilotoa Lagoon. On the way, we'll stop in the village of Zumbahua in the Ecuadorian Andes. Here, we will view the canyon of the Toachi River, formed by the flows of the Quilotoa Volcano, and visit Tigua to see masks made by local Indigenous communities.
Afterwards, we'll travel to the Quilotoa Lagoon, which spans a diameter of 8 miles (13 kilometers) and is located inside a crater formed 800 years ago when the volcanic cone collapsed.
We'll head to the edge of the caldera for a 1-hour kayak tour through the lagoon's multicoloured waters, where we might spot some deer or rabbits among the Andean flora.
Next, we'll visit the village of Quilotoa to share a traditional lunch featuring corn and beans. After lunch, you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore local craftsmanship.
Finally, we will return to Riobamba, where you will be dropped off at your hotel at 7 pm.
