On this visit to a Wayuu farm, we'll learn about the culture and traditions of these indigenous people from the Colombian region of La Guajira.
Wayuu Farm Tour
At the scheduled time we'll gather at the selected meeting point in Riohacha and head to one of the ranches in La Guajira to meet the Wayuu people. The Wayuu are indigenous people native to Colombia and Venezuela. This matriarchal society lives in various rancherias along the peninsula of La Guajira. They focus primarily on livestock and handicrafts.
After a 45-minute drive, we'll arrive at the Jipialu farm, where we'll meet the local community and explore their culture. You can admire their traditional handicrafts, including chinchorros and hand-woven bags, and purchase unique souvenirs. We'll conclude with a tasting of a traditional Wayuu dish, which may include a bun or a stuffed arepa made with fried goat meat cooked over firewood.
The visit will wrap up, and we'll return to the starting point in Riohacha four and a half hours after pickup.
