Tour of the Appian Way Catacombs
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Basilica of Saints Cosme and Damian to start the tour. We will travel to the Christian Catacombs of Callixtus on the ancient Appian Way, a site dating back to Roman times.
With a guide, we'll explore the labyrinth of tunnels carved in volcanic tuff, discovering graves from the first Christians. The tour will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Tour of the Appian Way Catacombs + Mamertine Prison
This option includes visits to two of Ancient Rome's most iconic sites. Departing from the Basilica of Saints Cosme and Damian, we will first visit the Mamertine Prison, where important figures such as Saint Peter and Saint Paul were held before execution under Nero.
Next, we will head to the Christian Catacombs on the ancient Appian Way to explore the underground tunnels and learn about funerary practices. This tour will last approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.
Itinerary Changes
If the Catacombs of Callixtus are not open, we will visit the Catacombs of San Sebastian.
