Set off on a day trip from Rome across the Italian countryside to discover the birthplace of St Francis in the charming town of Assisi.

Tour Description

After hotel pickup at the indicated time, we will leave Rome and head towards the Umbria region, skirting Lake Trasimeno. A coffee stop will be made at the foot of Spoleto. Upon arrival in Assisi, a guided tour will commence, starting with a half-hour visit to the Basilica of St. Francis, which houses the saint's tomb and significant frescoes.

Next, we will visit the Town Hall Square to admire the Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo del Capitolo del Popolo, Torre Civica, and the Temple of Minerva, one of the best-preserved Roman buildings. The tour will continue to the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis in the Santuario della Spogliazione.

The trip includes a guided visit of nearly 2 hours to a typical wine cellar where you will taste 4 glasses of Umbrian wines paired with bruschettas, cheeses, porchetta, and cured meats.

Before departing Assisi, a brief stop will be made at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, which includes the Porziuncola and the Chapel of the Transitus. The tour concludes in Piazza della Repubblica, central Rome, around 12 hours after pickup.

The day trip includes hotel pickup in central Rome. For those staying in an apartment or B&B, please go to the meeting point in Piazza della Repubblica, in front of the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, at 8 am. Timeliness is requested to avoid delaying the group.
