Experience a magical night on this glowworm kayaking tour in Rotorua. We'll head into small caves inhabited by these luminous creatures and even stargaze!
Glowworm Caves Kayaking Adventure
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Rotorua Information Centre. From here, you'll catch a shuttle and travel past the iconic Redwood forest towards our base on the lake shore.
Upon arrival, we'll prepare for the activity. Our guide will provide a safety talk and basic kayak instructions before we take to the water.
Then, we’ll begin exploring the shoreline under the last light of the evening. Once it’s dark, we'll follow the guide into small hidden caves home to galaxies of glowworms, illuminating the caves with blue and white lights.
On clear nights, the Milky Way may be visible in the sky. It's remarkable to be on calm water under a sparkling sky in total darkness.
The kayaking activity lasts around 1 hour, while the overall experience, including transfers, lasts approximately 3 hours.
