Glowworm Kayaking Tour

Experience a magical night on this glowworm kayaking tour in Rotorua. We'll head into small caves inhabited by these luminous creatures and even stargaze!

Glowworm Caves Kayaking Adventure

At the time indicated, we'll meet at Rotorua Information Centre. From here, you'll catch a shuttle and travel past the iconic Redwood forest towards our base on the lake shore.

Upon arrival, we'll kit up and prepare for the night. Our guide will provide a safety talk and basic kayak instructions before we take to the water.

Then, it's time to explore the shoreline under the last light of the evening. Once it’s dark, we'll follow the guide into small hidden caves home to galaxies of glowworms. These creatures will light up the dark caves with blue and white lights.

On clear nights, it’s possible to see the Milky Way fill the sky. It's incredible to be on calm water under a sparkling sky in total darkness.

At the end of the activity, we'll take you back to the starting point. The kayaking lasts around 1 hour, while the overall activity, including transfers, lasts around 3 hours.
