Lampivaara Amethyst Mine Day Trip

After pickup from your hotel, you will board a bus and head north of Rovaniemi. An 80-mile (120-kilometre) journey will take you to the Lappish village of Luosto, where the Lampivaara amethyst mine is located.

To reach the hilltop mine, you will board a snowcat, a vehicle designed for snowy routes through the snow-capped forests of Finland.

At the peak, you will walk to the amethyst mine, which has over 2,000 million years of history. Enjoy a guided tour of the mine to learn about the purple stone, its properties, and its uses. You will also have the opportunity to visit the excavation zone and dig for jewels in the frozen land, keeping any amethysts you find as souvenirs.

As you exit the mine, enjoy stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Next, warm up around a campfire with a sandwich and a hot drink before returning to your hotel in Rovaniemi, approximately 6 hours after departure.
