Rovaniemi Icebreaker Boat Cruise

On this trip, we will visit Snow Castle and the port of Kemi for a unique experience: an icebreaker boat ride on the Gulf of Bothnia, including the opportunity to float in its frozen waters.

Trip Details

We will meet at the designated point in Rovaniemi and travel approximately 2 hours by bus to SnowCastle in Kemi. Upon arrival, there will be 1-1.5 hours to check in for the boat, rest, explore the ice exhibitions, and enjoy the Lumihiutale restaurant.

Next, we will head to the port of Kemi to board the icebreaker. After a welcome hot drink, an English-speaking guide will take us through various areas, including the engine room and the captain's maneuvering area.

During the sail, we will witness the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Bothnia and observe the ship breaking through ice. Enjoy the view on deck or inside. Weather permitting, we will float on the sea and walk on the frozen ice, with special suits provided for warmth.

The return journey to Kemi will be followed by a trip back to Rovaniemi, totaling 9 to 10 hours.

Reservations include two options:

Tour without lunch: A 3.5-hour icebreaker trip without lunch.Tour with lunch: A 4-hour trip including a buffet lunch on board with drinks.
