Rovaniemi Icebreaker Boat Cruise

This excursion offers a chance to discover the Snow Castle and the port of Kemi, culminating in a remarkable experience: a ride on an icebreaker boat through the Gulf of Bothnia. You will also have the thrilling opportunity to float in its frigid waters.

Trip Overview

We will gather at the designated meeting point in Rovaniemi at the scheduled time. Once everyone is present, our journey will begin as we depart Rovaniemi for a bus ride lasting about two hours toward the Snow Castle in Kemi.

Upon arrival, you will have between 1 to 1.5 hours for check-in, rest, exploring the ice exhibitions, and visiting the Lumihiutale restaurant at your leisure.

Subsequently, we will continue to the port of Kemi, where the icebreaker awaits. After boarding, you will receive a warm drink and, with the guidance of an English-speaking tour leader, we will explore various areas of the vessel, from the engine room to the captain's control area. Experience the life of a sailor!

As we navigate, you will witness the stunning waters of the Gulf of Bothnia and watch the vessel traverse and break through the icy surfaces. You can choose to enjoy this captivating performance on the deck or stay cozy inside.

When the moment is right, we will partake in a unique activity: floating on the open sea and walking on the frozen surface, depending on weather conditions. Since the water will be quite cold, it's essential to dress accordingly; however, special suits will be provided to ensure your comfort.

Afterward, we will make our way back to the icebreaker to commence our return to the port of Kemi. Following the entire experience, we will arrive back at the original meeting point in Rovaniemi after approximately 9 to 10 hours.

Tour without lunch: This option includes a 3.5-hour icebreaker ride without lunch.Tour with lunch: This option extends the overall trip to 4 hours, featuring a buffet lunch served on board with drinks, making it the most comprehensive choice!

Please remember that the ability to float on the sea and walk on ice may be subject to weather conditions. Additionally, participants must be at least 140 cm tall to join the floating activity.
