Explore the rich history of Rwanda’s capital city on this personalized tour of Kigali. This experience includes visits to significant sites such as the Genocide Memorial, vibrant markets, cultural institutions, and museums.

Description

At the arranged time, a vehicle will pick you up from your Kigali accommodation to start your journey through the capital of Rwanda.

Your first destination will be the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will gain insight into the devastating events surrounding the genocide of the Tutsi people by the Hutu regime in 1994. This heart-wrenching period has been depicted in various literary and cinematic works, including the renowned film Hotel Rwanda, which received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 2004.

After an absorbing exploration of the memorial, the final resting site for over 250,000 individuals, your next stop will be Kimironko Market, known as the largest marketplace in Kigali. Following this, you will visit the Inema Art Center, where you can appreciate the creativity displayed by local artists.

The journey will then lead you to the prominent Inzora Rooftop Café and the Kigali Convention Centre, with a subsequent visit to Camp Kigali, home to a memorial dedicated to the UN Blue Helmets. Here, we reflect on the tragic loss of ten Belgian peacekeepers who were murdered by extremist Hutu forces during the genocide.

The exploration continues as you pass by the Kigali Arena, East Africa's largest stadium, and the Niyo Arts Gallery. After stopping at the Nyamirambo Women's Center, you will enjoy 30 minutes of leisure time for lunch in downtown Kigali. To conclude the day, you will visit the Talking Through Art Gallery and the Caplaki Craft Village. Finally, you will be transported back to your hotel in Kigali, completing a full-day experience that totals approximately 8 hours.
