Embark on an exciting journey through a breathtaking place in the Dominican Republic on our Los Haitises National Park Day Trip. You'll see rivers, mangroves and lots of local wildlife.
Tour Options
At the time of booking, you can choose from two different options, both starting at the Altos de Caño Hondo hotel at the specified time. Below, you’ll find the details for each option:
2.5-hour Tour
We'll meet at the Altos de Caño Hondo hotel at your chosen time and set off on our adventure. We'll arrive at the marina and board a boat to leave Sabana de la Mar behind and head towards Los Haitises National Park.
We'll sail along the Caño Hondo River through the red mangroves until we reach San Lorenzo Bay, observing rocky mogotes and bird species such as pelicans and kingbirds. Keep an eye out for the 700 different species of plants in the area!
After the boat trip, we'll enter both Arena and Linea Cave, featuring petroglyphs and paintings left by indigenous populations 750 years ago. We'll return to the boat and continue to look for manatees, dolphins, and other marine mammals.
Finally, we will conclude our trip and return to the starting point, arriving 2.5 hours after our departure.
3.5-hour Tour
This option follows the same itinerary as the 2.5-hour tour, including the stunning mangroves, San Lorenzo Bay, and the Arena and La Linea caves.
Additionally, we will visit the Owl Cave, known for its owl nests, providing opportunities to observe various bird species. After 3.5 hours of activities, we'll return to the meeting point and conclude the tour.
