Los Haitises National Park Hiking Activity
At your chosen time, we'll meet at Puerto Caño Hondo in Los Haitises National Park for a hiking trip.
We'll walk for around 2.5 miles (3.8 kilometres) to Caño Salado, observing coconut, coffee, and cocoa trees. As we venture into the northern Dominican Republic's rainforest, watch for the small solenodon, an endangered mammal.
Keep an eye out for parrots, pelicans, and kingbirds during our hike. We will also learn about the Taino people who historically inhabited this park, which means 'mountainous land'.
Upon reaching the end of the trail, we will take a small boat back to the starting point while observing the red and white mangroves.
After four hours of adventure, we will conclude the activity back at the starting point.
