Kayak Adventure in Los Haitises National Park
At a time of your choosing, we will convene at Puerto Caño Hondo, nestled within Los Haitises National Park. Once the group is assembled, we will embark on our kayaks, setting off to explore the vibrant tropical landscapes along the Caño Hondo River.
As we navigate through this tranquil waterway, we'll witness clusters of red and white mangroves and the towering ceiba, mahogany, and grandleaf seagrape trees lining the riverbanks. Listen closely, and you might catch the melodious calls of pelicans, owls, kingbirds, and other endemic birds that inhabit this region.
Our journey will then take us to San Lorenzo Bay, where the chance to spot dolphins and manatees awaits! Keep an eye out for the mogotes, which feature unique flora specific to this area. We’ll also explore Arena and Linea Cave, famous for the petroglyphs crafted by the indigenous Taino people.
After an exhilarating 4 hours on the water, we will return to our starting location to conclude our tour.
Extended 6-hour Experience
Enhance your adventure by opting for our extended option! You'll start with the same kayak tour detailed above, but afterwards, we will disembark for a hiking excursion.
This approximately 2-hour hike will take us through the verdant rainforest of Los Haitises National Park. During our trek, we will encounter various local flora and fauna, delve into the significance of this ecosystem, and relish the serene natural surroundings that define the park.
By the end of the 6-hour tour, we will return to the meeting point, satisfied after a day of exploration.
