Why Visit the Basilica of Saint-Denis?

The Basilica of Saint-Denis is the first building showcasing Gothic architecture, featuring pointed arches, rib-vaulted ceilings, and stained glass windows. The ticket provides access to the Basilica, allowing you to explore its interior, which includes the royal necropolis, the final resting place of many French monarchs, including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

Visitors will find other significant features such as the spectacular stained glass windows and the illuminated interior. Notable attractions include the organ, choir, and adjoining chapels. The Fabrique de la flèche, located at the monument's base, offers insights into the Basilica's construction history.

Opening Times

The Basilica of Saint-Denis operates under the following schedule:

April 1 - September 30: Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6:15 pm; Sundays from 12 pm to 6:15 pm.October 1 - March 31: Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 5:15 pm; Sundays from 12 pm to 5:15 pm.

Final admission is 30 minutes before closing.

The royal necropolis and the Fabrique de la flèche is open Tuesday to Sunday.

Free Admission

Admission is free for:

Youth from the EU aged 18 to 25.Children under 18 years, regardless of nationality.

Free entry is also available on the first Sunday of each month from January to March and November to December, as well as during the 3rd weekend of September.
