Military Garrison + Museum (2.5 hours)

Join us outside the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, where we’ll commence this engaging historical journey. As we delve into the past, discover how soldiers lived during the colonial era.

Known also as St. Ann's Garrison, this site was once the central command for the West Indies Regiment, the British military's local authority. Many are unaware that George Washington played a crucial role in an important event that unfolded here in 1751. We’ll recount this fascinating tale as we admire the cannon collection of the Military Garrison.

A mid-tour snack break will provide an opportunity to rejuvenate before we head inside the Barbados Museum and Historical Society. There, we will step back in time to explore historic plantation artifacts and ancient maps illustrating previous territories. Home to over 500,000 military relics, this museum is a treasure trove!

Schedule: This tour is held on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 am

Military Garrison + George Washington's House (3.5 hours)

Our journey also leads us to the Garrison Savannah Racetrack, once a 19th-century horse racing venue. Discover the thrilling past where imperial military personnel and soldiers once competed!

The tour’s highlight awaits as we visit George Washington's residence. As we navigate the site, we will examine barracks, hospitals, forts, artillery collections, the prison, and even the court-martial facilities.
