Join us on a tour of Barbados' second largest city, called Little Bristol, on this guided tour of Speightstown.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll begin our guided tour of Speightstown at 1B Highway Street. This walking tour will cover the city’s picturesque streets on the northwest coast of Barbados.

Participants will learn about Speightstown's historical connection with England and see remnants from British colonial times. The tour will highlight the 17th-century architecture of the area.

We’ll visit Queen Street, the main road filled with old buildings, shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Notable traditional constructions include wooden and coral stone houses, forged iron balconies, and red-tiled roofs. We will also pass by the Arlington House Museum, which features exhibitions on Speightstown's history and culture.

Next, we’ll explore Church Street and St. Peter's Church, constructed in 1837 in a Gothic style. The cemetery contains the tombs of important figures like Admiral Lord Nelson and writer George Lamming.

We will walk down Orange Street for views of the Caribbean Sea and Speightstown Pier, known for its palm trees and sculptures. Here, we’ll admire a famous mural depicting daily life.

The tour concludes after a 2-hour walking experience.
