Pedra de Lume + Santa Maria Salt Mines Tour

On this tour, we will visit two main attractions on the island of Sal, including the only salt deposit located in a volcanic crater.

Pick-up will be between 8:20 and 8:40 am at your hotel in Santa Maria. The first stop is Pedra de Lume, the oldest settlement on the island, founded in 1804. Here, we will explore the town and its renowned salt mines, which are a major tourist attraction and unique for being the only salt deposit in a volcano's crater.

This area offers remarkable views with salt-covered landscapes in pink and turquoise hues and has been a UNESCO candidate for World Heritage Site status since 2004.

Next, we will visit the Santa Maria salt marshes to learn about the significance of the salt industry for the island. Afterwards, we will return to Santa Maria, where you will relax in a restaurant overlooking the sea and enjoy an aperitif featuring local products, such as fidjoss and baobab juice.

The tour will conclude with a return to your hotel, arriving around 12:30 pm.
