Pedra de Lume + Santa Maria Salt Mines Tour

We will pick you up between 8:20 and 8:40 am at your hotel in Santa Maria to begin the tour of two major attractions on the island of Sal.

First, we will visit Pedra de Lume, the oldest settlement on the island, established in 1804. After exploring the town, we will proceed to its renowned salt mines, the only salt deposit located in the crater of a volcano.

This location offers notable views with its landscapes of pink and turquoise hues and has been included in the Unesco list of candidates for World Heritage Site designation since 2004.

Next, we will go to the Santa Maria salt marshes, where we will learn about the importance of the salt industry for the island. We will then return to Santa Maria to relax in a restaurant by the sea, where we will enjoy an aperitif of typical products, including fidjoss and baobab juice.

We will conclude the tour by returning you to your hotel, arriving around 12:30 pm.
